Free online games/betas?

My nephews have just got a new PC and broadband connection and are looking for some free online games they can play with there mates. I havent looked at any free games for years so dont know what is out there at the moment. Anyone have any suggestions on good games for them to check out? They are currently playing runescape.....

They are 12 and 13 so nothing that is really complex.

Are there any interesting free to play or open beta games knocking about at the moment?

Ahh yeah i forgot about planetside reserves. Will check out the LOTR beta testing for them too.
