MODx mate. Simplicity if you need a strong SEO CMS. Using template variables and API hooks there's a stack of power under the hood. Very fast system too - faster than Wordpress. We've built sites with 6 pages and all the way up to 1000 pages.

Mind if I ask you some questions on MODx? :)

I will soon be re-doing a website for a local primary school I've just started work at. The chair of Governors wants me to evaluate different technologies we could use for the new website. Obviously I want to check out some CMS' and see if any of them do what we want. I've installed and set MODx up on my own private site so I can play with it and get some ideas on what I can do with it.

I'm trying to work out how/where to change the menu on the front page. I see Home/Blog/Features/Getting Help/Templates/Design/Contact Us but I want to know how to personalise the entries in the menu bar and either add or remove buttons depending on what we'll need. Any hints on how to do this? I've had a look around MODx myself and the MODx site but I can't find anything obvious that tells me how to customise the menus.

Feel free to email me on my trust address (marclister at gmail dot com) to keep this thread on topic. :)

you got mail :)

So as not to stray too far OT I'll keep it brief:

It's a while since I did any modx but the menu's are generated from the document tree that you can see in the manager, so by editing the document tree you should be able to change the menu if that makes sense.
The specific parameters for the menu can usually be changed in the template, more details can be found here.

Back on topic, cmsmatrix privides a good list and comparison of many CMSs.
