This is a great deal.

I would deffo read up on these and see peoples comments, if it is a decent provider i dont really see the problem in staying with a company for 3 years!

Great for a home server or something!!

OMG. NO WAY

Sign up to Redten Internet’s 8Mb* broadband service and we’ll not only give you a brand new LG-branded desktop computer worth over £500, but we’ll throw in a three-year warranty and a free upgrade to Microsoft Windows Vista. What’s more, we’ll also upgrade your broadband to 24Mb* when it becomes available – again absolutely free!

really? wow.

Basically you're tied in for 3 years and the PC isn't yours until the end of the contract - ie you'll end up paying £720 for a £500 PC and if the service is carp you're stuffed.

If you were in the market though for a PC you could pay up front, get a 10% discount and get 3 years broadband for £150 and risk it..

Glad it's not just me :p

I had it last night, twice, thought it was spam at first - no idea why it was sent to me?

same here i had 2 of the same emails ,and thought hmm spam and deleted em :p

They seem a truly dodgy company, people have been changed 3x for activation fees and not to mention they spam (not a good sign for a trustworthy company).

They are a part of a company that is a competitor here (so cant name) that has a bad reputation when it comes to support. I would stay well clear of it.

I recieved two of these emails last night as well although i first heard of them last week while looking around for a new ISP (not them).

Just out of interest i went to their website and read the terms and conditions. Anyone who signs up to this will be spammed with emails, junkmail and telesales calls. Have a read of this:-

The supplier may change these Terms and Conditions of Sale without warning or notice.
Information you provide or we hold about you (whether or not under our Contract with you) may be used by us or our agents to:[...] Contact you in any way (including mail, email, phone, text or multimedia messages) about products and services offered by us.

Pretty scary stuff. On top of that there is a bit in their faq's about how much you have to pay to get out of the contract:-

Will i be able to cancel my contract?
Yes, you will. You'll have two options. The first option, which is open to you at any time during your time with Redten, is to return your LG Redten PC and pay an admin and restocking charge of £150. The second is to cancel your contract at any stage by paying a cancellation charge to cover the residual value of the PC, which you'll then be able to keep. If you cancel within the first 12 months of your three-year contract this charge will be £500; between 12 months and 24 months, it will be £400; and between 24 months and 36 months, it will be £250. The cancellation notice period is 6 weeks.

Payment appears to be a sort of payment plan so it seems more like a loan to me.

If you are a high user then you have had it anyway as they will severely limit your bandwidth. It's all in the faq's here .

Also it is done by a very unreliable competitor to OCUK as well so thats another reason not to go with them. As if you need any more reasons to avoid them like the plague.

This is a very, very bad deal and anyone would be well advised to steer clear. Where the hell did they get our email addresses from anyway? They had both of mine and one of those is only used for banking and online shopping. Not with the parent company either.

I hate when companies take advantage of people that aren't completely in the know like that. Being able to change the T&C means you are getting screwed over completely. And those restocking/buying costs are ridiculous.

Aint ya heard the saying..... "No such thing as a free lunch" always catchs and if's, but's and maybe's with these kind of offers... I suppose, it could be a good deal for someone starting up on a package, but then again, I wouldn't recomend them at all. 3 Years is a long time in computer world of future proofing, but for the average John Smith, this will seem a good deal.
