Nah, it has races, time trials etc like normal racing games, also 'delivery' missions where you have to pickup chicks / drop off a flash motor etc. It just also lets you cruise around exploring too (necessary to access many of the races/shops etc anyway).
It's even got a 100mile+ 'round the island' race which was pretty cool, took me nearly an hour in a Koenigsegg I think so you get to do a lot of driving
In fact it's a great game all round, I just got in a strop when my savegame got corrupted, losing a helluva lot of my progress/cars.
Might be worth a revist with the megapack I suppose.

Brilliant game, if im honest i didnt get into the online bit too much but i loved the missions especially the round the island one like you said, will be great if a sequel comes out

Think I managed it in around 52 minutes in the Mclaren F1, but think my best time was just under that on the MV Augusta

loved that game! with the comical peoel jumping out of the way, thought it was better than midtown madness 2, i liked the snow!

Another TDU vote, good to hear rumours of a sequel too
I'd forgotten about Midtown Madness, think TDU has it beat for the larger variety. I drove every mile of every road in TDU to get my achievement award. I think I drove more miles in the game than I did all year in my car
