Hi

I was just wondering if there are any other free roaming RPG's avaiable apart from Fallout 3, Oblivion. Morrowind and Gothic 3?

I would prefer more modern ones, as I know Daggerfall is a free roaming RPG but it's quite old these days.

Thanks for your help.

i think the witcher was pretty free roaming... tho i didnt really find a reason to go back to the last town tho.

ermm... final fantasy series allows you to visit any town you like i guess... thats all i can think of at the moment

Two Worlds (Epic Edition). It got a lot of criticism when it first came out but I only played it recently and found this latest version bug free and very enjoyable. Voice acting is a bit cheesy though.

If you're into MMORPG's keep a look out for Darkfall which hopefully will be released a month from now and also Mortal online which will probably take a bit longer to release.

The Witcher is designed to look like it is free-roaming, but actually it's quite heavily restricted. Hence all the fences, walls, banks etc when you are outside.

I thought that all rpg's had cheesy acting - look at Oblivion with that fine, baldy thespian Patrick "Prepare to warp, Number One!" Stewart and Fallout 3's lanky A-list Hollywood Heartthrob Liam "Mumble...mumble...Obi Wan...mumbley... mumble.." Neeson.
They are almost fine quality as those used in rts games such as CnC, Red Alert, etc.

As for free-roaming, I quite enjoy Oblivion with its huge list of mods. I generally ignore the quests and go hunting for baddies and help the good folks. I have just started Fallout 3, so I'm hoping for more weapon and armour mods. Cmon you StarWars geeks, here is your opportunity to make Stormtrooper suits!

Mount and Blade, its awesome, rise from a band of pillagers to a warlord. Combat is better than oblivion, it just doesnt have the whole world for you to ride in that oblivion style. when you are not in battle it goes to a kind of Rome total war campaign map. I like it.

Was going to suggest Mount & Blade myself, it's going to take something very special to beat this for my personal Game Of The Year. Plenty of mods available too, I can't recommend this highly enough :)
