Hi all, I am trying to get free sat to work on my samsung TV

First I thought I had a signal problem but the channels are being picked up, the TV shows good signal, however when I try to watch the channels on free sat none of them work.

Terrestial aireal works okay so I use that instead, I have deleted existing channels and re-added but the same problem occurs I am left wondering if there is something I need to reset in the settings?

Any advice on how to fix the free sat? Pics to follow shortly.

If in the past there was a Sky Q box connected to your sat dish, you have a wideband LNB fitted. To get built in Freesat to work on your tv, you need to change the LNB on your sat dish to a standard LNB.

Yes previously I did have a sky Q box fitted.

however, how can a different LNB make a difference?

One thing to note is that previously the old TV was able to pickup free sat on the same dish. However, is it normal for sky engineers to change the LNB when they are installing sky q?

Damn that is very cheeky and annoying
So although the tv detects the channel and shows a good signal i will need to change the lnb. That sucks i bet it is sky who had it this way im so glad im not their customer!

Nah im too far from stoke
What type of lnb do i need? Any links?

Also is it easy enough to change?

Btw the tv does pick up other sattelite channels it is not free sat but i saw another mode where channels worked ok but they are useless channels

Ah ok

This sounds like much more hassle than its actually worth esp in the cold

I read somewhere that freeesat offers more channels than freeview
But not worth the effort reading this

You can get hybrid LNBs offering both Wideband (SkyQ) & regular outputs, you could then run a Freest TV and SkyQ box off of the same dish at the same time, using separate cable drops from said dish.

do you have a link to the correct LNB I would need?

TBC - i had no idea they are different LNB's for sky vs freesat - I got 4 cables I need plugging in but the current setup would be for freesat only.

The 4k Freesat boxes being sold right now use the same wideband LNB as Sky Q.

Samsung TVs and older Freesat boxes use the non wideband LNB. This was also used by sky prior to sky Q.
that is a real shame!

is that the fault of samsung or sky? my TV is fairly new too!

is it easy to change the LNB?

edit there are cheaper ones on amazon just need to be 100% sure before I order

outta interest is free sat better than freeview? what u all think
