Free software to clone a drive?

Hi. I have been given an old system that is running XP but only has a 15gb HDD. Is there any free way i can clone this and put it on a 40gb HDD?

Acronis True Image Trial version should do the job.

Also try looking at the HD manufactures software.

Got Acronis downloading to my main PC, should open it and read or shall i just transfer it to the old one and go from there?

Sorry, another question. It wont off the original 15gb hdd, it's just hanging, so. Could i boot from another install but still clone the 15gb drive?

You should be able to but it does depend why it's hanging - if due to an HDD physical fault then it probably won't image either. If due to a software corruption then it should image, but you will of course also copy the corruption over.
