Free text to speech program

yup the start> progs> acc> narrator, write some stuff in wordpad for it to read out then you need a sort of sound output recorder to record what it says

how do i work it? i can only get it to do it letter by letter?

actually its reading every thing... like the window title... how can i just get it to read a block of text?
