Me and my dad put up a free to air satellite dish today and aligned it etc. We have most of the channels we expected and they look great but the receiver/decoder box keeps randomly cutting out entirely except mains power. I.e. it resets and power to the LMB halts, then it comes back in a few seconds. It doesn't do this when the coax and LMB are detached though, any ideas what's causing this to happen? We're on 'Eurosat 2A, 2B' if that helps.

Signal strength is always pretty good, and the first thing we did was to check the connections. Everything from the LMB to the SCART cables.

You sound like you have a short in the Coax somewhere, probably at a connector, the inner core cannot come into contact with the outer braid anywhere or it will short.

That's pretty much what I meant when I said checking connections (there were no shorts). Though I didn't try re-making the coax ends off again completely just for laughs, when there's light to work by again I might try that.

Need more Info mate.

Is it a Sky digibox, and if so what type.

Did you make the sat cable yourself, and did you test the cable and LNB for shorts ? Did you check the Coax resistance or check you ariel wiring, and doe the coax work in a standard An/digital TV ?

Also, what make/model of LNB and what noise level does it have - What type is it ? Mono-block ?.... and it's LNB not LMB.

I would say it's most likely a problem with the connectors or water in the LNB or ariel connectors.
