Free upgrade from i3 4170 to i5 3570k?

Hey guys! This might be a bit of a noobish question as the answer might be obvious, but is it worth me swapping my i3 4170 for an older i5 3570k?

I do nothing but game on my current build so if the new CPU would provide better performance I'm down for the swap. It's my brothers old CPU it's sitting around in an old machine so the only thing it would cost me is the time to fit it.

Not really looking to overclock or anything like that. Let me know if you need info on my current set up.

Hmmm, OK. Another massively noobish question, I assume gaming is multi threaded?

Most newer games are.

If it were me, I'd be nabbing the 3570K, and, looking at the post above, the mobo as well!

Aha well luckily it's seated in an old z77 extreme mobo too so I could just take the whole thing out. Just means I'd have too basically refit everything
