Have you looked into why NOD32 won't install?

AVG is also free if you run Vista x86.
 
nod32 works fine

although you don't really need av on vista imo.. uac + the odd defender scan (disable real-time) should be suffice..

unless you visit dodgy sites all the time, then windows update and common sense should take care of you
 
shame the AOL one doesnt work with vista, i found that rather good on xp.. :( i am in the same boat tbh, trying to decide which AV to use.. probably end up with avast.

But UAC is the most annoying thing ever...
