Hi,

Ok I need to put up a very simple webpage for my dad, its only 1 page. So what free webhosting would you suggest? Also can you get free domain names at all? Or would they come with the web hosting?

Also is there a way to make this page searchable from google etc?

Thanks.

Free webhosting looks cheap and i doubt youd be able to point a domain at it. Domains will not be free unless someones stupid and making a loss on them. Get yourself some good quality webhosting from someone like www.vidahost.com and youll get a guaranteed service, not some crap which is slow and heavily over subscribed.

Hi there,

Generally, with free hosting its quite rubbish.

However, if you are looking for a simple HTML website, you can get one, for instance, I test my websites on Beansprout's Uploader (hope he doesn't mind me mentioning it). Just create an account and upload your website.

Then you can get a free .tk domain, which you can get to redirect to your webpage, but the .tk domains do have advertising on them, so I think its something like £1.50 to get rid of the advertising. But you can get a free address like this: HtHttp://www.yourfreedomainname.tk.. You just create an account at Dot.tk and go from there.

Hope that helps!

Thanks...

[Edit]

If you add the site to google via the .tk domain, then I don't think the pages are searchable...

Ok thanks for the advice, will try and see if i can convince my dad to pay for a webhost. Are there any packages out there that are cheap but include a domain name? Also if the web host account doesn't have a domain name then how what would the address be that i type into Firefox?

Thanks

Hi there,

Generally, if you don't get a domain name then, you will get a subdomain (i believe) and the address would be something like: Http://www.myname.hostname.com (or something similar).

You can get domain names really cheap now, go to a US site and you can get a .com domain for around £5-6 i think. (For 2 years IIRC)

Thanks...
