I thought of putfile but that's limited to 25mb per file :( give me a few minutes I'll have another think. Although be warned that is a big file. What does your friend want to upload the file for anyway?

Would it be an iso by any chance? DVD rip? Anything else that you probably aren't really allowed to host, and thus probably shouldn't be asking about here?

Why does it need hosting anyway? There's got to be easier ways than attempting to host something like that.

he doesnt know how to ftp server or anything, he's pretty newbie with internet so i'd thought upload to webspace would be easier for him

LOL dont worry about it mate, he doesnt know how to use FTP server hence i ask for free webspace for him to upload

thanks anyway

I'd be wanting to know that the file I was willingly hosting wouldn’t be breaching any copy right laws that I would be liable for before I agreed tbh...

not heard of the postal services then? Also wonder why you've ignored posts about the contents and legality of the file thats being uploaded? 650mb is say the typical size for a film??

no it isn't. 650mb is the typical size of a cd. i guess it could be the size of a really crappy film rip...i refer you to my previous post. it's none of your business what's on the CD so quit asking? you're the ones who are mentioning illegal stuff

Sic, if he wants us to host the file, sure it is our business. When the police come a' knocking, "sorry gov I didn’t ask" isn’t an excuse to warrant a get out of jail free card (I call it being responsible!)

well, if you're that bothered about it, dont do it. or offer a service that wont question it like i did.

hmm typical dvd rips end up in the region of 650mb.

no they dont!!! a dvd RIP actually ends up > 4Gb, because oddly enough, that's the size of a dvd's capacity.

if you rip it, then encode it to some horrible low-quality avi contained divx, then it might drop that low, but it'd be horrible to watch!

Am I the only one feeling the urge to say "Duh?" here? When the OP hasn’t given an idea as to what the file is or even confirmed its legitimacy any normal person with half an ounce of common sense is going to question what the 650Mb file is before they host it which is what I'm doing, Im not gonna host a dodgy file on my network...
