Not sure if this has been posted, had a quick look but not a detailed one!
Anyway, if you are on the 4mb or 10mb service, call up customer services and ask them for the wireless router - they will send it free within 10 days :)

Think its a Netgear that gets delivered!

had a look at it, seems a bit of a con, getting the free router buys you into a new 12 month contract, and with a lot of people downgrading from 10mb/4mb back to 2, this looks like telewests way of changing this.

router also doesnt come with a network adaptor.

Thats the line I heard, but the woman I spoke to mentioned nothing about a 12 month extension, so what they can't prove is all the better for me :)

guys me and my m8 phoned up for this deal yesterday and they arrived today :) no mention of 12 month deal for either of us, It's a Netgear WGR614 v6, which is really nice, and even if there was a 12 month contract would not have worried either of us anyhow as BY is by far the best provider out there, we both been with them 5 years, so even with 12 month contract its still ok i think.

ps: i forgot to say i also phoned them up to see if i could get a better deal than i am paying by off chance, i currently pay £35 for 10mb line, and they offered me £25 for 10mb for next 12 months, i thought that was great also another saveing of £120 a year :) , so it might be worth a try for you guys, thank me later guys if you get lower bill also hehe

They give out deals left, right and centre. I had a deal (second I've had) on the 2MB connection for £9 a month for 3 months. That ran out last week so I phoned up again yesterday and they offered two new deals:

1) The 2MB connection for £10 a month for a year
2) The 4MB connection half price (£12.50) for six months

I went for 4MB option and was upgraded 5 mins after I put the phone down. And now they're giving away a free router! Telewest are fast, reliable and cheap too :)

hehe u greedy :) let us know how you get on, i reckon they offer you £20 for 6 months or £25 for 12 months like me ;)

RESULT my internet half price for 3 months. Free wireless router to replace my WGR614v4 :D. And also a complaint so i get a new modem

How are you people getting the free router? i've been with blueyonder for 5 years and currently on the 4mb service. However when I rang them up they told me the best they cout do was downgrade me!! they also said the router was only for customers that are upgrading to the 10meg.

Which department is the best to talk to? i'm thinking I should ring the disconnect number and call their bluff, see it that works any better!

Not sure about the department that you talk to but you only have to be on a 4mb/10mb service to be eligible for the offer.

My dads going to be ringing them up today telling them were going to leave, wounder what service they are going to offer us :D

And if they don't complie we'll happily go to BE* broadband insted ;)

I got the router delivered last week. It is pretty poor, keeps dc'ing every so often. Haven't had more than a couple of hours without a dc.

V. dissapointed. This seems to be quite a common problem with this router and I can't find anything to make it work better (including better cooling). Anyone got any ideas?

My no name wifi router works a lot better but this is a lot faster so would love to get it working!
