It just doesn't work in Opera like it does in I.E./Firefox.

Can anybody help?

Basically in I.E. a download is chosen and FDM kicks into life and starts right away. In Opera however, it doesn't do anything and I'm forced to copy/paste a link.

Why do you need a download manager with opera, it has one built in (ctrl - j for 'transfer' tab) and this can download a load of links from the same page (ctrl shift - L ) - I just installed opera today and spent ages hunting for something like downthemall for firefox and this appears to do the same thing although I haven't tested it properly yet.

Free download manager is much better than the inbuilt one. For downloading huge files its a god send :).
oGet should do the job, but funny enough i've had nothing but trouble with FDM since the big 9.5 release, it doesn't seem to pick up the file name from oGet properly, so it doesn't really integrate perfect, but a workaround is setting the monitor clipboard (which is all i'm doing for now). I'm sure there's probably a fix, but i just haven't got involved enough recently.

How have you set it up? oGet puts it as part of the right click menu as default unless you click silent monitoring or whatever it is from the oGet menu... I'm actually gonna look into trying to get this fixed properly now though so i might be back with a decent answer in a bit :D :p

Right the problems i'm having don't seem to be documented anywhere i can check, but i'm gonna go back to version 2.1 and try that see if it plays any nicer...

Ah it appears to have integrated into the right click menu. I've had a quick look in Opera's forums - but not much is going on there. Thanks for you help fellas. Will keep trying :)

Hmmm, somethings not right somewhere for me, whether i use FDM 2.1 or 2.5 they both get passed the URL but don't pick up the name which is anoying. This never used to happen, so i'm beginning to believe its an oGet problem. How's it working for youreslf?

It's not working properly, the integration if you know what I mean isn't complete. I just tried to download a copy of Open Office and anything through e.g. download.com goes straight through to Opera's transfer page. However links themselves do work through freedownloadmanager. (I hate typing that out as one word lol).
