Hi, I got a drill today and already the chuck seems to be stuck.

It's a keyless type one and I can't twist it free to remove the drill bit! Surely this is a common problem and there is a way of doing it?

thanks

I've a black and decker one and every so often I have to tap it with a hammer if it gets stuck.

just on the side, all the way round little taps

Completely OT, but i love the thread title.

Reminds me of those tongue twisters

Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry..
Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry..

And so on

Try it for 15 times!

Failing all else, clamp it in a bench vise and spin the chuck loose with a pipe wrench. My grandfather has a drill with a stuck chuck that was remedied this way after being stuck for three years.

haha, what have I missed :D

Got it off by using the mole grips and an open ended spanner on the nut of the base of the chuck, came off no problem :)

cheers for all the help.
