If you don't have an interest in such areas it's not too hard to imagine not hearing of someone.

I've heard the name but didn't know what she looked like nor about any of this. Can't actually think of a song she's done either.

Can you blame her after what she's been through? Let's not forget it's also easier to put on weight than lose it ;)

And now we've gone from it being right for a judge not to invalidate her contract based on unproven allegations to a thread taking delight in her having gained some weight. This is what I meant about things like this bringing out the worst. If you really get this much satisfaction, why don't you just buy a copy of some celebrity mag. They usually have some (often photoshopped) image of a celebrity in an unguarded moment with a big arrow labelled cellulite pointing at their thighs, etc. Posters in this thread are exhibiting exactly the same mentality as people who buy such magazines. I see no difference. Yet, I imagine these same posters look down on such people rather than see them as the same, yes?

I think you need to understand context and target audience. The magazines you mention are not doing it in the name of satire and humour, they post them to elicit very different responses.
So no, they're not the same.

If people were smart enough to dig a little deeper (instead of holding up stupid signs) they'd start to get a better picture of the situation.

The guy basically sunk nearly 50 million (or so) into her career to build her up to where she is today, there is a lot more going on than meets the eye, apparently this stuff happened long ago, so why is it only coming out now?

Someone on Reddit basically discussed it saying well they have taken him out of the equation she no longer has to deal with him, but she still has to work for Sony (makes sense right? you can't just get out of a contract because 1 person was in the wrong).

But it seems to me there is a lot more going on here, ie she's potentially trying to wiggle her way out of being tied into a contract (now she's been built up to a big star and could easily go her own way) and she's pulling the ol rape card. Now if any feminist heard me say this, instant misogynist blah blah. Well the judge was female and ruled against her so there we go.

I'm not saying nothing happened at all, I've no idea none of us do. But i'm always sceptical now of everyone's motives now looking at some of the false rape claims that have come out in the past and destroyed peoples lives.

I always laugh at famous people who "lend" their voices, I bet if you asked any of them about kesha lying to the court in 2011 they'd be like "oh really?".

Also when you see signs such as "Sony supports rape" held by some obvious white knight who is trying to get laid, I can't help but laugh at it. What a ridiculous thing to say lmao. Yeah of course, sony walk around supporting rape. Like my dude.... they're just a company and she legally signed a contract with them. I can't for example get out of my mortgage because some guy burgled my house and plundered my booty whilst I was in the shower... imagine the phonecall. Me ringing the bank, yo guyz can I get out my mortgage? you know just cuz...

I don't even know who Esha is but I certainly don't think calling them a freek is helping anyone!

I can see why folk are backlashing against twitter and their hashtag tyrany.

I'm a feminist. [..]
Sexism, racism, whatever. All the -isms come down to judging people by some arbitrary group rather than them as an individual.

Since you are opposed to that, why do you choose to be part of one such '-ism'?

And no, feminism isn't somehow the opposite of what it is just because it's the most powerful such '-ism'. That's a silly idea that contradicts reality. It's no different to the others. You can't advocate for one sex without, as a first step in everything, defining people by their sex (it's obviously impossible to advocate for group X without defining people in terms of being X or not-X) and then judging them by a collection of prejudices (to "justify" advocating for one sex only).

I've met a fair few feminists (or more accurately "feminists" since they advocate sexual equality and therefore aren't feminists) who, after years have passed, spent a lot of their time pointing at examples of feminism and saying that feminism isn't meant to be like that (as you have just done in your post). Yes, it is. That's the whole point of it. That's how it's always been. That's how it is. That's how it always will be. That's its purpose.
