He means mod chips just allow you to play "backups". No XBMC or anything fancy like that yet.

well, it would allow you to play multi region - which was sort of the original point of the thread?

besides which, using the wii as a media centre seems entirely pointless. Thats probably my blinkered view tho, as i'd use my Ps3 or 360 over the wii for such a task anyway.

Allows you to play loads of homebrew tho - numerous emulators, multi GC games on one disk etc...

It's literally just for pirate games. Also doesn't the wiiclip only attach to a limited subset of wiis?

nah, thats the benefit of it - i think it works with all.

Plus it allows playback of imported games as well.

I don't own a Wii, but my friends was complaining about that they blocked the freeloader, since they just purchased a few import games.

It's a bit weak that they support no region on one system but yet not on another 0 in my opinion at the least.
