Hi all,

What's a simple to use backup solution for a FreeNAS server?

I could Rsync to an offsite FreeNAS server but upload speed is poor so may take too long.

Is there a nice USB HDD backup solution? So that the user can plug in a disk in the morning and take it home in the evening (or rotate 2 doing it overnight). The less user intervention the better.

Do you want to backup all your data or only the system files?

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I want to backup data.
It's UFS too.

Bumping this up. USB hard disk option is preferable. What's the most automated solution?

I am thinking a Cron job to mount a usb disk and then run rsync? I am unsure how to set this up, instructions or a point in the right direction (a guide?) would be great.

No need to setup a cron job, the gui will do that for you. As the job will be local then there will be no need to setup SSH so the bottom part of the guide is not relevant.

Setup the model and the rsync task on the same freenas server.
