Hi all,

Setting up a FreeNAS box to serve some files between PC's and Mac's.

I'm having issue with the Mac's ignoring file/folder masks and writing their own so that files or folders created on a mac cannot be read from any other machine.

Files or folders created on a PC retain the file mask settings and do not give any issues.

I am currently playing around in CIFS/SMB but had the same problem with AFP and ignoring PC's for testing purposes.

Any ideas or experiences?

I've not a great deal of experience in this so may have to provide more information.

TIA

Hi. I have finally resolved this issue by adding (via Freenas GUI) "unix extensions = no" into what I believe is the samba config file.

This has stopped OSX over riding my prefernce for new folders and files to inherit permissions.
