I may have asked this before but I want to get rid of sky and replace with a Freesat box that I can record, pause, etc
I also want the ability to install apps such as kodi etc and the use the hard disk to store some movies

Any recommendations?

Humax HDR-1100S For built in hard drive
Humax HB-1000S If you want to use an external drive.
Both have Freetime and catch-up apps.

Other ones, such as Skybox and ones that you can install Kodi on are a bit of a grey area.

I have Humax which is pretty good.

I'm not interested in the dodgy sky boxes but I'd like something I can put my own apps on and move recorded movies etc to another disk if needed etc

The humax looks good

Atm I'm paying £800+ a year for sky and I've had enough so I don't mind paying a few hundred5 for something

That's cool, I don't think there is a reliable Freesat box that does Kodi.

I have the Humax. You won't be able to put Kodi on it and are limited to its own ecosystem of apps. Usual suspects are on there and work well (iplayer, Youtube etc.) The Freesat recording side of things, EPG and UI are all pretty good and the best on the market for Freesat IMO.

I complement it with a Fire TV for Kodi, Plex and local storage.
