Hi,

I've read forums and various faq's etc. but I'm still not quite sure what the difference is between freesat from sky and the joint venture between the BBC and ITV to launch Freesat which I hear is coming out at the end of spring....

I Can get free sat from sky now but is it worth waiting for free sat?

Don't know much about the new Freesat - I'm on Sky's offering as TV reception round me is rubbish. Be warned you can't get quite a lot of what look like good channels (the main offenders being Dave, More4 and E4).

pay £20 and get a freesat card from sky, i believe you can get E4 with that then

Ok well the problem there is that currently I don't have a dish or box etc. - I'm a freeview viewer but the reception I get downstairs via an attic aerial is crap.

Surprisingly upstairs with a portable TV aerial on a different TV I get all freeview channels and a great reception on all of them.

I've had an engineer round to quote me on what needs doing and he put an amp on the attic aerial and all *** channels were available downstairs, although there was some breakage/pixelation etc. on one or two channels. Film Four and UK TV history iirc.

Anyway, for 150 quid i'm prolly better off for it as i get to keep the dish, card, box and cable. I'm just wondering really whether it's worth waiting for freesat instead and if so, why.

I'd wait for freesat to launch if only because there's not really enough information to make an informed choice at the moment plus the competition might lead to better deals from Sky than are available now. Also freesat will supposedly allow you to receive HD free as well (although i'm not sure when).

Where did you hear this? :).

Freesat is a HD platform from combined BBC/ITV and will launch soon. It is picked up via a dish and goes to the special freesat box which is also a PVR. No subscription either. Loads of channels as well.
