Hi, right my house has a Sky dish attached to it with a normal box for watching normal sky in the front room.

I have a PCI Card (Nebula) in my bedroom using our aerial, i'm sick of this as the signal is lost a lot and it's just basically a pain and freeview sucks.

What I want is freesat for my bedroom PC, is there PCI or PCI-E cards available to do this? I hear freesat has some HD channels, will I need to ring sky to get the dish changed or will they work with the current dish and a new freesat card?

And finally. Lets assume there is a PCI or PCI-E card available to watch freesat from my bedroom, how do I hook it up to my bedroom? How much will it cost if I got someone to do it and will I need a new dish installation or can they use the current dish and keep the front room normal sky?

Sorry if i've wrote this really badly lol but I think you guys get the idea.

Need the costs really to see if I can justify it.

Right, yes the pci card is available, loads of different manufacturers, look for dvb-s or dvb-s2. You will need a feed from your Sky dish, do you have normal Sky or Sky+, as most recent Sky+ installs supply a 4 output LNB so you can run a cable from that to your bedroom, into pci card and job done. However, if you don't have a spare output on your LNB, easiest way is to get parents to order Sky+, pay the installation costs, then run cable to bedroom. Problem is, I can see that lot costing you approx. £100...

:(

A quad LNB is about 10-20 quid. Cable isn't too expensive either.

If you've got a bit of practical know how you should be able to cope with fitting it yourself.

yeah, but the op mentioned getting someone to do it, thus my figures etc.
quad lnb's are approx £20 -£25, cable say £20, couple of f-connectors £1, dvb-s card, say £35...not far from £100 without someone doing it, reckon he'll only save max of £25
