I posted a thread about getting an integrated washer/dryer but now heard some horror stories about how they don't dry clothes properly, overheating, the bolts getting damaged and difficulties with getting them replaced like not being able to find the same kitchen door design

So how reliable are integrated washers/dryers because it is a bit more hassle for me to have a freestanding one? Or Freestanding ones light years more effective at drying clothes (including denim)?

Usually if an integraded unit breaks you just move the door over to the replacement unit.

Only problem i found with integrated units is the extra grief with fitting them, never had a washing machine/ drier integrated however only dishwasher. Can see that being a nightmare shaking the hell out of the rest of the kitchen.

I have an integrated washing machine and dishwasher. There is no true "integrated" washing machine as they're just freestanding with a door boshed on.

Not really had many issues... Other than the door originally wouldn't fix to the unit properly, and the machine was moving a bit kicking door alignment out but that's stopped now.

Niggles for me is having to keep the door open to let it air, which means you need the cupboard open which messed with other kitchen doors.

Any other comments on the unti causing the other ktichen unit to rattle but we just had a new kitchen fitted!

With regards to fitting/replacing the unit in the future could there be issues with it braking the door hinges, cracking any close-by units etc?

Had a Smeg integrated washer dryer at my old house for around 7 years, pretty easy to fit the door and never had any issues with it. It wasn't as good as a seperate dryer, but much better than not having a dryer at all.

Yes they certainly seem smaller... which was why i am concerned about intergrated washer/dryers not drying the clothes 100% and of shaking the kitchen units / causing cracks (I noticed there is some kind of glue connecting the unit to the cupboard or dampness/mostuire affecting the wooden kitchen units
