Freesync on Samsung TV with Nvidia cards

Ok, I've been playing around with this and have to say I didn't realise the TV was as versatile for gaming. I'm also really surprised how good 1080p @ 120Hz looks.

I've changed the input method from PC to Game Console as I agree the colours are washed out when set to PC. I notice that 2560*1440 option is only 30Hz unless I select it from the PC section; so I need to stick to 1080@120Hz? Replies above seem to suggest that you are getting 1440@120Hz?

If I am set to 1080, will games be able to switch to 4k@60Hz in game or would I have to change the resolution before launching the game?
 
I've never gamed with an AMD card, and I'm intrigued to see Freesync in action with this TV.

What should I be looking for if I'm going for 1920x1080 @ 120fps? 5700XT? Could anyone suggest a decent model variant for quiet and cool?

ETA: forget it, I just checked the owners thread and it's issues galore by the looks of it. :(

I've picked up a Vega 64 in the MM so I can have a tinker with this. It'll be replacing a GTX970 that I have in my second system that's plugged into this Samsung TV.

It may just sway me to upgrade my 1080ti for an AMD card for the main system. I'm looking to pick up a new LG 48" OLED later in the year, so maybe an AMD card will be the way to go.

I'll post thoughts on the Freesync performance later in the week for anyone taking an interest in this thread. :)
 
I'm having some trouble with resolution due to HDMI cable restrictions, so I'm settled on 1920*1080 120Hz for the time being. What Freesync mode should I be using, basic or ultimate?
 
If I set 2560*1440 in the Windows Display properties, then it shows as 3840*2160 in advanced display properties and also in the Radeon software.

Is there any other place to change the resolution, like I could in the Nvidia Control Panel?

Edit: I got it going after some tinkering, set at 2560*1440 120Hz. I'll get some fiddling done with under volting etc later.:)
