Hi all,

I am currently rocking a Benq XL2730Z and a 290X Vapor X. I am loving freesync and I don't think I can game without it now.

After all the issues with CF FS drivers (reason I sold 1 Vapor X) and now having to send my monitor back to Benq to update the firmware due to them messing up the AMA/FS stuff. I am seriously thinking of move over to a 980Ti and getting a Asus ROG Swift.

I was going to wait until the new AMD GPU line was released but I am very impatient.

Would you think the £300-400 hit for the switch be worth it?

Well you get a monitor with a slightly better range and a card that is noticeably more powerful but only you can justify the cost.

I'd just wait till AMD release their new top end single card and go for that, no more CF issues, possibly better than a 980ti and should cost you around the same.

as tempting as the 980ti is if you already have the monitor just wait, worst that could happen is the price of that 980ti goes down

Actually that's not true, 390 could be rubbish and the price of the 980ti could go up, but i think that's unlikely, they might sell out though

I wasn't overly happy with SLI and G-Sync (very happy with a Titan X and G-Sync though) and noticed microstuttering in lots of games. Not everyone had that though and could just be a me thing but thought I would give you a possible heads up.

The ROG Swift is an awesome monitor though and a 980Ti will be coping perfectly well with that.

Thank you for all the prompt input, its very appreciated.

In that case, I think I will wait until performance results are released for the new AMD line up then I will decide.

I am in the states next month, I was thinking about picking up a new GFX over there as all high end cards are from £100-£180 cheaper over there, I just feel it will be a mess with warranty issues.

Yup i had an evga i picked up in canada. Died iver here about a month laters green snow.

Was a 670 le editiin. Rma'd to germany and was sent a 670ftw as a replacement. No hassle at all.

To be honest if you've got a monitor that you're happy with I'd stick with it, there are so many manufacturing defects (backlight bleed, dead/stuck pixels etc) that I wouldn't go through the trouble of switching unless you really have to.

Only game that I still get stutter in is Advanced Warfare MP, not tried SP again yet.

Just consider that 2560x1440 on the swift is a lot more demanding than 1920x1080. I'd consider SLI if you want to make the most of the monitor.

BenQ is also 1440p..

If I was you I would hang in there... I been using single GPU for while now because I am enjoying Freesync more then having crossfire enabled.. Amd do need to get this sorted though..

But so far a 290x and Freesync @1440p has been a very enjoyable experience..

I have found the single 290x and freesync very enjoyable on this monitor. I feel 1440p is the sweet spot.

@passey89, I am popping to visit family in Canada next month and they live an hour from the border into Michigan, I tend to pop to microcenter there and get the dirty cheap CPU offers they have. Currently the Titan X is about the same price of a 980Ti in the UK.

It would be cheaper to just switch to a fury, but that will depend greatly on the performance. I think I will wait and see what fury offers (price to performance) then make my decision.

@spikerules, could be a swap deal on here lads! lol

@JediFragger, You bad man!

EDIT: Just noticed that you can transfer 3 year warrantys on a EVGA product too. Pretty good.

Love GSync with SLI here. Just a shame I still get no DSR.

Same and thats also my only gripe so far. I don't think I'd move to gsync from freesync though unless you had a serious reason to. If the ROG swift is better than your current monitor, I'd consider it, but switching both out for what is effectively an expensive sidegrade (although the 980 ti is faster) isn't great on the value for money scale sadly.

If I were you, I'd wait to see what the 390x performs like and go from there. Easier to just swap a GPU than swap both the monitor and GPU out (and far easier on the wallet).
