HI, just wondering If I understand how freesync works correctly. I'm looking at getting this monitor. It's 75hz so will refresh up to 75 times per second?

With Freesync, do I need to turn vsync off for it to work correctly? And what would happen if I locked a game so that it could only display 60fps? Would that work?

The monitor Freesync range is 40-75.As long as your fps stays in that range it will work.
Also you do not need vsync but you need from the drivers to cap your FPS to 74 and you are set :)

Please note you must buy a HDMI 2.0 cable to make Freesync work with that monitor. The one supplied with is 1.4

However if you still want to fiddle with settings, here is the video you much watch :)

Awesome thanks. Would freesync work over displayport with that monitor and is MSI afterburner the best for capping FPS?

If that is the same old video from awhile back then Linus got several things wrong (mostly on the G-Sync side) it would be worth trying to find some slightly more upto date information.

It does not even matter. Freesync and g-sync is the same result. You won't be able to tell the difference. The only thing g-sync has an advantage on is having a bigger range.

Like right now I have a 4K monitor with a freesync range of only 40-60. But to be honest most games I play I locked at 60fps anyway so I am fine with it until I grab a freesync 2 monitor in the future once we get OLED monitors coming out with proper HDR.
