I've found any with the Goodmans chips to be good. Look for the GDB3 models. Their around that price and the boxes are very fast. Mine also had audio connetors on it to plug into my stereo.
Its worth paying extra really, having lived with a cheap box and a £100 (A year ago now) Sony box the Sony is so much nicer, when you press a button on the remote the box responds! And the buttons feel like real buttons
Digilogic/Durabrand boxes are quite good. They are fast (software is made in Bristol I believe) and they are made in Turkey. I believe the goodmans boxes are internally the same but may have a buggy software version.
Other than that I would get a Sony box as I don't think anything inbetween is better than the digilogics.
