My parents aren't very tech savvy and are still recording using a 15 year old Sony HDD/DVD-R Freeview recorder. I wanted to get them a new hard drive Freeview recorder with HDMI/HD and WiFi streaming support.

I bought them a fire stick but they struggled with the iPlayer/etc interfaces and the home page menu. The have an iPad but would struggle to use a Chromecast /etc.

I'm thinking about something like a Humax PVR or similar? Can anyone recommend anything that's straightforward to use?

A video search for reviews on the units you're considering will help, a good reviewer will go over the UI and setup, so you'll get a clear idea of how simple and easy (or not) using the device will be.

Thanks. I think that's the key thing. Getting a device with an easy to use interface and a decent clear electronic programme guide.

Yeah I was going to say Youview Box would suffice or a 2nd hand BT Youview box (dont need a BT account to use it thats only for premium services)
