Hi,
All of a sudden the last few days none of our freeview channels are working apart from the BBC channels. Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks!

Try switching your set top box off for at least 30 seconds and then back on again, this usually sorts out this kind of problem.

Nope, also tried a rescan. Not getting the channels at all now :(

could have been water in the cable?

Whack the aerial cable directly into the TV, what's the analogue reception like?

Very poor signal, same as we had before we got freeview. Its been very hot so it probably dry out anyway.

Signal is back again.... bet it will go in a minute :(

BTW this is happening with my built in digi tv and the freeview box downstairs.

It will dry out but when it rains it will come back and cause the cable to corrode from inside out. Also the water will run down the cable into your nice shiny telly!

How old is your aerial and cabling?

Have you checked for transmitter works on the BBC website?

No idea how old it is, just moved in 7 months ago… I also have a (NEW) Signal Booster and the cable goes through insulation in the loft so don’t worry about water dribbling down the cable.

The wate will run down the inside of the cable so the insulation wouldn't be much good. Sounds like you have an internal aerial anyway, in the attic or something? So obviously no water up there.

For it to be happening with the DTV and DVB-T box it either has to be an aerial or transmitter problem.

No we have it setup like this:
Outdoor Aerial > Booster > TV

Surly if it’s corroded there would be no signal at all? The channels are back again, wonder how long it will last  :p

The Beeb are notorious for this!...

They turn the Transmitter down to see how low they can get it before people complain about loss of service!...

We had it about 6 months ago for an entire week!... Phones up a few people, the Beeb being one of them, abd they told us they were expreiencing transmitter problems and were working on the problem!..

When it came back it broke up all the time!... We've moved now and are on a different transmitter (more powerfull and closer to us!!) and have no probs!..

Just remember the Freeview channels are made up of (I think) 6 packets!... The Beeb have their own packet which they play with a lot!!!... ITV have one, CH5 have one and CH4 share 2 (E4 is on one and E4+1 is on another!!) and various other channels share the others!!..
