Freeview on your iPad without using the Internet? yes please!

I would have thought that the reception that you will get from that would pretty much render it useless unless you are in a very strong signal area.

Yep, those little aerials are generally bad for reception unless you're in a good open area or high up. On the move or sitting on the couch you'll be lucky to receive anything. Still, it could be good as a portable TV that would remain stationary.

Is that true though? The last time I tried any antenna like that it was in the days of analogue. With digital transmission and error correction isn't a much weaker signal generally ok?

That's very sweet, only worry is reception, just like old hand held tv.
Especially when in cheap hotel rooms with multiple Walls blocking it.

One of the hotels we stay in for work has 4 fuzzy tv channels and only slow ethane connection. Which sucks, so this would be nice.

I have an image of you standing on a chair and saying has it picked up the signal yet! :p

If it does work well then thats pretty damn cool.

This.

who has memories of using the TV tuner attachment for the Sega Game Gear while camping ?

I can remember now the lengths you had to go to, just to get a signal. And i thought Digital was worse with weak signals...

Digital should be considerably better once, normal bandwidths get turned off. But tahrs depends on the area as to when it happens. But until it's turned off digital is harder to get.

When Analogue is fully turned off the digital transmission should be boosted and that should help with signal issues on these small ariels.

Mind you I don't see the need for TV on the move anyway. Surely the iPad can entertain in much better ways?

For us workers who stay away and don't always have Internet connection due to location.
