Freeview PVR or Hard disk recorder

I currently have freeview but have been considering getting a PVR as i have no recording device. Can anyone recommend one, most seem to have freeview built in.

or should i be looking at hard disk/dvd recorders?

I can't recomend a specific PVR as I use an MCE box for watching freeview.
I did used to use an external STB for sky with MCE and something I noticed was artifacts from double encoding, and I imagine you'd get the same with an external HD/DVD recorder, so my preference would be an integrated PVR (can't you actually get a freeview PVR with DVD writer in as well now?)
