We've just recently swapped from a Samsung TV to a Sony TV.
All same cabling/cable routes used and the Sony TV is suffering from poor freeview reception.

The antenna cable route is from wall socket > Panasonic PVR RF In> Panasonic RF Out > TV
Panasonic PVR is connected via HDMI to TV

A bit of googling showed that the Panasonic PVR through its HDMI connection was adding to the issue.
With the Sony and no HDMI connection the signal is strong, connecting up the HDMI and the signal very quickly drops. This doesn't happen with the Samsung (cheap RF shielding on the Sony?)
No amount of adding as much cable separation as we can helps the issue.

Would it be better to connect the TV+PVR using a splitter like the below, rather than using the pass through?

Think I've got one of the mini external mains powered amplifiers I could try to use as a powered splitter too.

I'm going to track down some higher quality Coax cables for the antenna too as they are just thin cheapies at the moment, suggestions for anything better (and cost effective!)
