I used to use CDBurnerXP thing, and that just wouldn't write the various files that I asked it to.

I then tried IMGburn, and I might be going mad here, but it appears to not write quite a lot of formats onto CDR? I tried to write a few *.exe and *.zip files and it wouldn't let me for some absurd reason.

Are there any others out there please?

Infra Recorder might be good for you. And as for ImgBurn have you tried putting it into the Build mode, make an ISO containing your exe and zip files and burning the ISO file rather than the files collectively?

I did, but I haven't tried to burn anything yet.

Come to think of it I bought two DVDRW drives just out of habit of always having two optical drives. I really think I might sell one now as I never use it, and put the money to buying e.g. a HD one...

i wouldn't bother buying a HD/BR burner yet

i'd wait until they're around the £60 mark at least...

better off spending the money on hard drives

IMG burn seems good, but it's too complicated. And it doesn't like the bin/cues i was feeding it the other week. You have to do about 25 clicks just to burn some files. The interface is messy, and there are dozens of different types of buuttons andthings to click on. Somethings wrong if you have to google for a guide on how to burn some stuff to a cd.

Tried Final burner, but that too sucked ass.

Anyone know which of the above programs:
1)burns cue/bin files
2)burns iso files
3)has a big window to drag and drop stuff into to burn
4) a big 'GO' button?
5) doesn't need 'setting up'

Will check out the others though.

<edit> as much as Nero sucks, Nero Express was actually almost Ideally the kind of thing I'm after - anyfreeware implementations of that kind of thing?

Aye that's very true that. I have two burners and tonnes of DVDR but its just easier to get a bigger hard drive and format it, stick it in and use it as storage lol
