Freeware Driving Sim

Wow, I can remember playing racer about 5 years ago, didnt know it was still on the go.

Its a good laugh, and very moddable, just dont expect amazing graphics, and most of the tracks and car models are rush jobs. COuld have got better since I played it though.

Likewise - what an ugly looking, pants sounding simulator.

Tried it recently? A few months back tehy updated the sounds, and whilst they still aint amazing, they are much better, and also the GFX have had a bit of a revamp and whilst they arnt amazing, they are very clean.

That's not really the point, when you have something that is designed as a very realistic simulator, not a graphics fest like GT/PGR/Forza.

I've got the best of all worlds - rFactor, LFS, Richard Burns Rally - a great mix of the best of all types of racing :)

Have they bothered to update it? I recall this first time around, iirc it was rubbish and I went straight back to GPL.

LFS and RBR here, didn't really get on with rFactor (or any of the ISI engine'd sims tbh)

I've found myself to be the reverse, I love r-Factor (F1 2005 Mod especially) RBR is not too bad, shame its a pig to configure with my Microsoft FF Wheel.

Still play Grand Prix Legends to death, GTR & GTR2.

Buggy racing in Battlefield 2 still reigns supreme - you can machine gun your opponent if he beats you! :p:D

Merry Christmas.

P.S. This thread is in the wrong forum :p ( Mods too busy on the Mince pies? ):D

Bah Humbug! ;)

Same here & No serious Sim racer should be without any of them. I'm going to be playing RBR over crimbo as it's a time when i won't be disturbed. RBR needs your Full attention. RFactor has just had two Superb mods come out for it as well. Namely the Rallycross mod & the BMW 320 E21's both Superb mods. The E21's being especially good for online races.
LFS should never be over looked though as it races brilliantly online & races are quick & plentiful. Only problem with it is it gets stale real quick as there are no new tracks & cars released. The handling & gameplay is Superb though & up there with the best mods of RFactor.

I've just started playing LFS for the first time in six months and noticed as I was driving to work this morning that its started to affect my real life driving just like it did before.:D

I love LFS for than I love Neil777, it is fricking excellent!

I know what you mean with the not plentiful updates, but I still have lots of fun doing Blackwood (I think it's called!) after 3-4 years on-off playing, finding a 100th here and there ever so often! Also messing with the car setup is great, and after I realised there was more too it than downforce, tyre pressure and brakes it got a lot more interesting. Can't beat online play, with good non-evil-children-or-idiots like-minded people.

Not tried rFactor, but will give it a look when I go back to Flondon. RBR too, eh, I like a bit of rallying, not found/tried anything since Colin no.2 or something I think.

M3 Challenge is a good free driving sim. However, it is a shame that it is limited to one car on one track.

Given that its a BMW M3 marketing tool, hardly surprising I suppose.

Its a shame no mods have appeared for M3 Challenge, its ripe for such treatment I'd have thought.
