Freeware/Opensource LWAPP controller

Anyone seen any Open source LWAPP WLAN controllers?

One would have thought if you can get firewall appliances, NAS appliances and PBXs you could also get a WLAN controller, but I can't find anything.

I read somewhere that DDWRT were looking into the possibility of adding LWAPP support into custom firmware, this coupled with opensource controllers would be super handy for test/training labs.

Yeah that looks like a glorified RADIUS server with some bells and whistles.

There does seem to be a massive hole in the market here. If there's any keen Opensource developers out there, this is your opportunity to shine

Though good to know I'm not the only one looking.

I looked into this and found absolutely nothing, which is a shame as I have a few lightweight cisco APs and wanted to set up something similar to work where I use a 4404 wireless LAN controller.
