Freeware to record desktop for youtube video creation

As title after some recommendations on the best software (easiest for a novice) to capture my desktop for eventual editing and upload to youtube. Dont need sound.

I've been using PowerPoint, which you might have if you have office. If not then it's not free.

If you've got a Nvidia or AMD GPU you can use their inbuilt tools to record it.
