Freezer 7, should I use AS5??

I got me a freezer 7 for my 6300.

Should I use the supplied gunk on the cooler or should I clean it off and use some AS5?

My temps improved removing the stuff which came with it. Im using akasa thermalpaste still have yet to put my AS5 on lol.

I'd defo use AS5, you can make better contact that way. Just make sure you don't put too much on and give it time to 'burn in'.

The grease with the Arctic Freezer 7 is MX-1 which is just as good as AS5 in my experience. The problem with a new AF7 is that they put to much on. If you don't want to change it then I would scrape away a few mm all around the edge of the pre-applied grease and give it a good few twists when sitting it on the CPU.
