Since Thursday night, I've had this problem of the computer freezing. It will happen after 30mins to an hour. The PC becomes unresponsive, can't click on anything, ctrl-alt-dlt doesn't work. I can move the mouse about oddly. I have to do a hard reboot.

I've ran chkdsk /f /r on my disk. Also used HDTune error scanner, thinking maybe it's a hard drive issue. No issues.

I booted up in safe mode today and thought I'd leave it to see if the same happens. If it doesn't, then I know it's more a windows problem, possibly driver etc. Unfortunately it did.

I'm now on Ubuntu from a USB drive. At least if it works fine, I can defintely point the finger at Windows and do a clean install perhaps.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Not ran memtest yet. I will leave it running overnight.

Well it froze in Ubuntu from a usb stick. Think I can rule out HD.

The problem seems to happen when I go to click on something. In this case of Ubuntu, I minimized Firefox. Sometimes it will be when I click start. It's defintely frozen though as ctrl-alt-dlt doesn't work, time doesn't move etc.
