Couple of months ago i keep crashing with a multicolored screen like TV noise when nothing is on but with random colors.
I have been told that its overheating and ive got the faulty 8800GT batch, plus ive got the ASUS version with that non-reference cooler which doesnt seem to have a good thermal sensor.
I tested this on EQ2 log in screen and as soon as my temp hit about 54.3 it locks up and i have to manually restart. That doesnt look like over heating to me. It could go up to 60 before and go whole day like that and nothing happened.
I could play DoW 2 for about 2 hours but the next day i couldn't even last 5 minutes.
I want to clear up this problem before i rush to conclusions on whether to purchase a GTX 260 to replace it.
- Just a side question. Why is it when i replace some low speed fans which barely draw any air to the Medium yate loons i get the same temperatures on my gpu. Unless i take out my fans and hold them in my hands and blow them over the gpu in the same position then i might get a 4C drop. (these are my side fans on a stacker 831 btw)
By the way i'm also looking for advice on whether to get the EVGA, XFX or BFG? EVGA seems to be crap lately with the credit crunch and people say XFX have bad support. Even though XFX is the cheapest one and fastest i think but 2 year warranty might not be enough.
The only thing that making me want BFG or EVGA is the 10year warranty and step up because the GTX 275 series look pretty sweet and with maybe a price drop in the next 3 months itll be a pretty good buy.
