Freezing when trying to install?

I have been trying to get Linux working for a week or so now but had no luck what so ever. If I boot it from live cd/usb it just lets me move my mouse around the desktop but doesn't let me click anything at all. If I boot it from live cd/usb in compatibility mode it lets me mess around and open stuff, etc but whenever I try installing it it just gets an error.

Tried Ubuntu and Linux Mint, I believe they are both based on Ubuntu(Well Ubuntu obviously is..) so maybe that's the problem? When I try to install it straight from the boot menu instead of using live cd/usb it just doesn't let me click install, once again it lets me move the mouse around.

I have tried installing it inside windows as well but it just freezes when I try to boot into it.

Tried using both CD and USB.

Googled around and I haven't found the same problem or a solution.

I have managed to install it before and its the same hardware, only differences being a new keyboard and headset which I didn't think would affect it?

Thanks in advance :)
