French Open Tennis 2018

Well done to Halep, after a slow start she managed to adjust her game plan and it looked as if Stephens perhaps got a bit tired in the second and third sets so couldn't maintain her level while Halep could.

Speaking of Nadal, I must be one of the few who don't like watching him play. I don't like his style of play. Federer makes the game look so effortless and he doesn't grunt like he's busting a gut.

You're not alone, I don't particularly enjoy watching his style of play although in its own right it is tremendously impressive and he is an awesome player. The grunting does get a bit annoying whoever is doing it but I try to tune it out as it's not going to stop any time soon.

Consistency from Nadal is unreal at the moment, length, spin and direction all on point. Thiem's playing a very high level of tennis and has kept himself in most points but he needs to play even better or hope Nadal drops off a little. Frightening when you consider this Nadal isn't a patch on the Nadal that thumped Federer 10 years ago.

Edit: That return to break has got to be up there as one of the shots of the tournament. One more game for Nadal.

Edit: Domination. Hard to imagine how many titles he would have if two of the slams were played on clay rather than on hard courts.

I'm a Nadal fan, mainly because he broke Federer's stranglehold on tennis, but boy does he make Roland Garros boringly predictable! And that was what I disliked about Federer, not the man himself or his sumptuous tennis but because he dominated. I enjoy the competitive aspect of sport, and who will honestly say a straight sets win is more satisfying to watch than a tight five setter? Fantastic achievement. And I was happy to see Halep finally win a GS.
