French WoW player reaches level 70 in 28 hours
By Wesley Yin-Poole - 17/01/2007 - 11:35am GMT

A die-hard World of Warcraft player has reached level 70 within 28 hours of The Burning Crusade's release.

Gullerbone, a 24-year-old French WoW player, reached level 70 at 4:04 am (CET) on January 17, 2007. He is believed to be the world's first.

The Burning Crusade, the expansion to World of Warcraft, the most popular MMO on earth with eight million subscribers, went on sale in the UK at midnight (GMT) on Monday 15 January.

One of the game's new features was to raise the level cap from 60 to 70. Most experienced players had suggested it would take a number of months at least to achieve the goal.

Yep :p :D

Personally i think for the own good of people, WoW should limit accounts to 12 hrs a day logged in, and log out people wich are online above that, way too addicting, good thing i never started playing it...

when i played it for the first time, i went 47 hours straight until i had to sleep... MMORPG's (massive multiplayer online role playing game) are heavily adictive, and WoW just so happens to be the right balance of casual gameing and hardcore gameing, you can play it no more than 2 hours a day and still feel in with the crowd, although, like the above post, you get carried away ever so eaily.

also, every 2 levels you gain new skills, which was a major attraction to people, this was because they could reach these 2 levels fairly easily, and gain those important new skills.

i quit wow after many lvl 60's due to it becoming boring and repetative.

just dont touch it, unless you have enough spare time for no life.

Just...why? I honestly don't understand the appeal of WoW to people like this; endless grinding for no reason other than to be more effective at it, yet it's the most popular MMO on the market...my head hurts. :(

Kind of annoying people saying "no life" etc etc. It's not like he played it non stop for weeks. He and his guild powered him to 70 to see how fast it could be done, not because he has no life and nothing better to do.

People should read the full interview and not automatically think "omg WoW loser no life wtf!!!"

Yea now what? He will probably spend the rest of the ******* year doing the same things over and over again. All for what? Nothing at the end of the day.

there are stacks of different servers, in part because the total population is so high.

they have pvp, pve and rp servers too.

Interesting idea, however the problem is that true addicts would simply buy another account and switch over when they get logged out. The way I see it, anyone who is (regularly) playing more than 12 hours ago is likely to be at least semi-addicted and as such probably wouldn't bat an eyelind at shelling out another £8.99 or whatever it is.

They'd likely get a lot of bad press from some circles too... I can hear the outcry now..... "I PAID 50 BUX FOR THIS GAME AND THEN ANOTHER $15 A MONTH! HOW DARE YOU LIMIT MY GAMETIME THAT'S A BREACH OF CONTRACT AND I'M GONNA SUE YOUR ASS RIGHT NOW!! TRADING STANDARDS ARE GONNA SHUT YOU DOWN FOR EVER N00BS!"

if i said what i actually thought id get a free holiday :p so ill be nice ...

what a complete and utter waste of time .. but then thats WoW ...

imagine if they pulled the plug on it, there would be soooo many teen suicides !!

the thing i reckon is the sadest of all, is the people just reading a thread to flame anyone that plays wow ;) grow up people, just because they dont play your game doesnt mean you're a better person.

ive never really liked the warcraft world. seems a bunch of poop to me. mage this nightelf that... :S

whats it all really about? my friends tell me theres just the one storyline thing that you can complete?

I don't mind if people power level their way through a MMORPG, I just think they're missing out on the fun of the game/community interaction when they do.

With WoW being so big you're always going to have players that "want to be first" to the next level cap.
