Frequency noise during gaming

So all is well with sound with my earphones, but when I start a game, any game, it has a weird frequency noise of some sort in the background of the actual sound of the game.

Not sure what it could be? my GPU temp's are normal and everything runs smoothly, apart from this unnecessary noise.

Thanks in advance for any help

isnt coil whine from the GPU itself and not something you hear during gaming as this noise would come from the PC and not from the sound on the PC.

coil whine can be something that starts when gaming as it use's the GPU more and the fans have to work harder.

to confirm is the noise from the PC or in the background of the sound when gaming?

Only in the background of sound, buzzing kinda noise when i start any game that uses the gpu's power

do you still have the old GPU still? if so change back over and see if you still hear the noise.

it might be the GPU making the noise and if its loud enough you might be hearing it in game.

best thing to do is to load a game up and let it run while seeing if you can hear thenoise coming from the GPU in the PC

My last GPU got replaced with the Gtx from overclockers, its not the GPU making the noise, its only the sound when i listen through my earphones when I run a game, like far cry 4 or Watch dogs

Sounds like an el-cheapo sound chip. What motherboard/sound card are you using? It's difficult to help without all the information...

Are you using onboard sound? I've had it happen- it seems to be the GPU chattering away, but being picked up a little by the sound chip, and fed into the signal- i.e. interference.

I play Banished quite a bit, and it's the worst game I've got for this effect- if you zoom in and out with the mousewheel, you can play a little tune.

Using a separate sound card now and the effect has stopped...

Yeah ive always stuck to pci sound cards while ive been overclocking, i used to get terrible noises coming through the onboard one, especially using the Mic/input.

What system you using and are you overclocking? Maybe others using the same sounds chip have had similar problems.

I had this with my Asus Xonar DGX sound card when it was in the slot above my GPU. This was because it was picking up interference from the GPU. I moved it to the bottom PCI-E slot and the noise went away.

This. I used to get constant background noise through my speakers, especially when a backup was running (lots of disk activity - the buzzing/noise would be in time with the disks).

All nice and silent even at 100% volume with my SBZ.

Spec sheet has it as a Realtek® ALC892 sound chip. It's the value end of on-board audio and it's physically located near the GPU expansion slot according to the pics. The better boards now use an ALC1150 series chip, and fit some shielding to minimise interference. Not a lot you can do really IMO, apart from fitting a PCIe sound card.
