Howdy :)

Just how important is frequency response?
I currently have a Bosch 5.1 set that's about a decade old.. amazing sub sounds, but it's a li'l bulky and I'd like something more modern.

I'm using the Azalia onboard audio on my P31-s3l, which is fine for what I need.

Does a difference between 20hz and 100hz for the lower limit of frequency response make a huge difference to someone like myself - a casual gamer, I listen to a fair amount of music (160kbs mp3, mostly).

Can I hear the difference between 100Hz~18KHz and 40Hz~20KHz?
Does a larger frequency range make a better speaker?

Cheers!

To a casual gamer, not really a lot unless you have a very sensitive ear. However, the fact that you know about frequency response would suggest to me that you should consider it when purchasing some speakers. Don't get too hung up on it though. Try and get some reviews of what you at looking for and see what people say about it.

I work in studio's in the week and frequency response is vital in both speakers and microphones, but that is another case altogether.
