Fresh Format, Need Codec

Trying to make a short video clip of some in-game footage i created using fraps a while ago (Counter Strike: Source), the problem is i recently formatted my computer and now i don't have the required codec to play the formats.

I've tried installing KL-Codec and Storm Codec, but still no fix, i can hear them fine but cannot see anything

Anyone have any idea or any codec that may work?

Stop messing around with codecs

get VLC, will play anything you throw at it

Try GSpot. Should be able to tell you which codec you need

if its fraps default setting, it saves in raw avi and that only plays in windows media player for some strange reason. When I tried, both VLC and mplayer didn't like it.. (strange because vlc is usually fine with raw avi and so is mplayer, you just cant skip through..)

try encoding the avi using media encoder to wmv or mencoder to another format. Not sure over the best encoders out there.

Basically, fraps video captures are weird and you'll need to mess around with it.

and yeah, vlc and mplayer will build their own codecs if they can't find one
