Fresh install and restore.

Hey guys i want to do a fresh install of windows 10. I use the normal backup tool included in windows which i have set to back up my photos, music and videos.

Am i right in thinking once i've done my fresh install, i can go to windows backup and restore the files i want from my external drive?

I would suggest, no matter what you think you have in a backup, if you are planning a complete wipe, then make a second backup, by direct drag and drop of anything you really don’t wish to lose.
Then do exactly as you stated in your post.
Backup
Wipe reinstall, restore files.

Keeping your backup separate during this process, just in case,

you might consider backing up browser history/bookmarks/add-on-list/config too, and config files for other programs
- personally that is the most difficult/time-consuming part for any fresh install
