Fresh install, backing up/creating an image.

Herro,

I've just reinstalled win7, and installed my major proggys, updated, got everything as I like it (gad dayumn it's super fast again, why don't I do this more often?!!). All updates installed etc. So now I'm wondering, rather than go through this again and again, is there any way for me to back this up to an installable iso?, so that in the future I can just install this straight off the bat?.

I wish to leech your collective knowledge..

I see that, but it's not in same vein as an install disk/usb install situation is it. Like, 12 months down the line I decide to format/reinstall, it's not going to give me the option, rather it's a restoration. I was wondering whether it was possible to create an install from what I have :]. I dare say not.

I've used nlite etc for more more streamlined installs (with added drivers, apps etc). I think I was confused tbh. I've got my current install as I'd like it to be, and I wanted to back it up in such a way that I could burn it to dual layer dvd and use it to install on fresh drives etc in the future. Seems the windows backup feature is essentially what I'm looking for.

Can I actually install this backup on a fresh hard disk in the future though?, I thought the backups were just essential system files/registry etc, and when you restored they'd just overwrite the potentially borked sections of the OS, rather than being a FULL backup that could be installed on a clean hard disk.
