Fresh install, Win8.1

So i've currently been on win7 for years, and recently got a SSD, so im doing a fresh install on it, would every program i have on my HDD, need to be re-installed?

Yes, as your doing a fresh install the only thing that will be installed is the OS so any games, software or any other software you use will need re installing.

other option is to clone the current HDD and restore it to the SSD but if you are in windows 7 and going to 8.1 then a clean install would be best

Yes, fresh install for Win 8.1. I always install all my programs ie virus protection spyware cpu-z etc, all drivers........and then I image the drive using a free drive image program like Paragon, then if you have to re-install its very easy and quick.

I've tried fresh install on my SSD, and windows setup says "Windows could not update the computers boost configuration, installtion cannot proceed. >.>
