Hi there again!

You may have noticed that I have already asked for help choosing a laptop and I have decided on one but my specification and budget has changed.

I don't need a laptop for gaming anymore, it could be but the gaming spec is just something extra to what I need. I can live without it.

I need a laptop with a good colour gamut, good panel, something that will last me. I will be travelling a lot so the laptop needs to be very light and IT HAS TO BE 15.6". No bigger, no smaller. I am studying Graphic Design and working in the creative agency at the same time. I will be using Adobe package, mail and browse internet heavily.

I had MSI GS60 Ghost in mind previously but I didn't like the gamut reflection and how easy to bend the screen was. It is also a bit above my budget which is 800-1000 quid.

From the technical spec of the laptop, the only things I would need is 8GB+ Ram (possibly 16GB) and 128GB SSD to keep OS and Adobe apps on it. I will also need at least 1TB HDD to store my work on.

In the office I will be able to connect the laptop into 27" samsung monitor.

I really liked the looks of the Lenovo Y50-70 but I have noticed that they don't offer many different specs like 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD which I both really need! I have also noticed in the reviews that the components may not work really well together?

I need a machine which will look professional, be light but be a monster inside at the same time. I don't want to be embarrassed taking it to the meetings with the clients.

The laptop would be purely used for Graphic Design, mainly in the office. Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

I hope you can help me! :)
Thank You!

I'd probably go with the Clevo W650SF. Various places allow you to pick the screen. A matte full HD IPS screen is an option on them... and I think they're AU Optronics panels. At least the full HD in my Clevo W55SU1 identifies itself as one. But I have to say there is backlight bleed around some of the edges. Colour gamuts and things I have no clue about as I'm not an artist / designer, so I can't help there.

The W650SF is a good looking laptop (in my opinion). You'll be able to choose all the components including the screen as I mentioned above. So you can spend money where you need it and save it in other places (including on SSDs and HDDs) to bring it in line with your budget. If you spec everything high end, you'll easily go over £1k though. It also comes with the option of a GTX840 or GTX850 if you require something with a bit more graphical grunt than the onboard GPU.

************ seems to be very versatile I can tell. The thing is that it is relatively young company and there isn't much honest reviews about their products. The few reviews I have found were about their products loosing with products of other well known companies like MSI.

Also I couldn't find any info about their screens which is very important to me as a graphic designer. The colour gamut and sRGB coverage should be as high as possible.

I think it is important to mention that MacBooks are a big NO. I need to be compatible with my home PC and I am not a big fan of Mac OS.

You can also select your own components for within a budget with MSI laptops like you can with Clevo. But OCUK don't offer that option. And I don't think there's many UK or European based retailers that offer the option to do so either. Though there's quite a few US companies that do.

As for screens. That's just a matter of shooting the relevant parties an email or ringing them up and asking.

And don't worry, despite my username, I wasn't going to recommend a MacBook.
